Rector of NSU discussed with Avdotya Smirnova, the president of the «Exit» fund, the issues of helping people with autism

The rector of the Novosibirsk State University Mikhail Fedoruk met Avdotya Smirnova, a president of the fund for solving the problems of autism in Russia. They have discussed problems of developing a system of comprehensive care for people with autism and the participation of NSU and other leading universities in this process. Employees of the interdisciplinary center for applied analysis of behavior of the NSU, parents of children with autism from the autonomous non-profit organization «Atmosphere» have also attended the meeting.
Along with the question of NSU's participation in scientific research on the subject of autism, which are conducted with the organizational support of the Fund «Exit», participants of the meeting have also discussed the problems of training specialists in the direction of applied behavior analysis, the scientific discipline underlying the most effective correctional and educational techniques for children with autism. The participants of the meeting were most interested in the introduction of the inclusive model called «Resource Class» in the Novosibirsk Region for teaching pupils with autism in general schools.
Last year, on the second of April, NSU joined the worldwide movement «Light it up Blue»: lighting on the new building of the university for a week has been turned blue in the recognition of the problem of autism.
